Hello everyone,
I'm having email issues, and was wondering if anyone could help. Last night, I checked my email, and I had seven messages from "email delivery system", informing me that the seven messages couldn't be sent to the email addresses provided. I have no idea where the emails came from. I didn't send them. I have never even heard of any of the addresses that the emails were trying to be sent to, either. I checked my sent messages folder, but nothing was there. I did not open the attachments that were included in the emails. I know that's the wrong thing to do, so I just deleted them. I called my ISP, and the first guy I spoke to told me that it sounded like Spyware to him, so I ran my Spyware program, got rid of everything it found, and also ran my antivirus program, which didn't find anything. This morning when I checked my email, I had more messages from the mail delivery system, notifying me again, of failed attempts to send emails. I once again deleted the messages, and called my ISP. The guy that I talked to this time, told me that it didn't sound like Spyware to him, but rather a virus. I told him that my antivirus is up-to-date, and that I ran it, but it found nothing, and he didn't know what else to tell me. I have never had a problem like this, so I'm completely lost. I've never even had to deal with a virus. My sister went into my registry to see if she could find anything, but nothing was there. She also did a security scan, which found nothing, and also did a search on my computer, for the names of the attachments that were trying to be sent, but again, nothing showed up. The emails that are trying to be sent, have not been sent to anyone in my address book. At the times of the delivery attempts, I am not logged into my email account, nor is anyone even using my computer at the time. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what I can do about it? It's got me nervous. Like I said, I've never had problems like this with my computer, and I'm lost. If any of you can help, I'd be so grateful. Thanks.

I've gotten those types of emails before. They are usually spam and if you scanned everything i don't think it's anything to worry about. Try sending a test email and see if you can send messages correctly though.

Yes, I am able to send emails just fine.

You can try and Google the names of the attachments you're trying to send, if it's a known virus you'll get some hits for sure.
If you are Using Outlook I could probabloy give you a script that lets you know when someone is trying to send email from the Outlook itself, if that helps (it's easy, I can tell you how to do it too), but start with the Google search and see what it throws up.

If anyone wants to know, the names of the two attachments that my account is trying to send out, are called Blonde Hair, and Kissing. I did a Google search, but as you can imagine, I got a lot of hits, but nothing pertaining to a virus. If anyone else finds anything, please post it.

you know? if you change your password it might remedy some of the problem. I used to get those e-mails as well and some attatchments that were sent to other addresses got blocked and returned to me because they were viruses. Why don't you download the attatchments and scan them? It won't harm until you execute the files. Good luck to you. Just remember to change your password to a more complicated syntax with numbers and dots and so on.

I did change my password. It happened one more time since, but that's it. Hopefully it stops.

I have a theory. Since it's an email you're are getting talking about the messages not being delivered, it could mean that someone has access to your account from another computer and is using it to send attachments. If so then this is an email problem and not your computer. Change your password and worry about how secure your ISP is.

Well, like I said, I did change my password, so hopefully that will help. as for the security of my ISP, I like to think that it's pretty secure. It's one of the top ISP's, so...

Anyway, I did change my password, and my firewall and all is up-to-date, so I'm just hoping that it helps. I really hope that whatever is going on, nothing else was accessed.

I've seen this with several addresses on my domain where it could be spam being sent from your address and it is being sent to addresses that are invalid. The mail system doesn't know it is spam just returning the mail back to the address it was sent from. HTH.

Check the properties of the email and get all the info, that it is actually originating from your ip and going through your ISP's mail servers. Check that your outgoing and incoming pop3 settings are correct and get a trojen scanner Gems. Cheers
